WebJan 10, 2024 · With AR500 you need carbide and clamped solid. The biggest problem with drilling is that you need to apply quite a bit of feed pressure. Carbide does not like excessive pressure. I've had the best success using Relton Carbide tip drills for hard metals. AR500 is just not made to be readly machined or welded. Torch, plasma and laser cutting is fine.
