After MUCH gnashing of the teeth pulled the motor and replaced the flexplate, (motor had to come out anyways for nasty pan leak) went and bought a new starter,, HUGE gap issue and no shims, tried puting a flat washer on the outside to kick it inward, it helped but not right.
